Open Notion.com and it's a wall of features: AI, agents, meeting notes, enterprise search, calendar, mail. Easy to bounce right off it. The truth is you need almost none of that.
In this episode, Jason shows why one small corner of Notion, set up correctly, will boost your AI's productivity more than anything else you use. It's the first thing he opens every day, because it's where the data for his businesses and his life lives, and where his work with Claude actually happens.
You don't need to be a Notion expert (Jason isn't). And you don't need Notion specifically. The same idea works in Monday.com, SharePoint, or similar tools. This is the setup video before the build, so follow along rather than poking around on your own. Next up: creating your account and laying the foundation.

A Brief Overview of Notion Before Diving In
Notion looks overwhelming, and most of it you can ignore. One small corner, set up right, does more for your AI's productivity than any other tool. Here's where to start.

If you go to Notion.com, you can look at this and you probably want to immediately hit the back button. I know I did. What are they trying to sell me? AI, agents, meeting notes, enterprise search. If I go to Product, I start getting even more overwhelmed: calendar, mail, all of these different things. What's the point of all of this when I just want something simple?
The truth is, we need almost none of it. Out of all these options, we're going to use just a little slice. A couple of simple tools. The rest of it, I don't know who it's for. Companies with 100 employees and a dedicated Notion admin? I'm not sure.
But one small corner of this app, set up right, will do more to increase the productivity of your AI than any other tool you use.
And Notion doesn't have a monopoly on this. I want to say that quickly. You can do a lot of what we're going to show here with other tools. Maybe you're using Monday.com. Maybe you're using SharePoint. There are other tools out there you could probably use to do a lot of this. So use this either to follow along in Notion, or to get inspired to use another tool that's similar.
But when I want to get things out of my head, and more importantly out of Claude's head, this is the best place I've found for it to live. It's the first thing I look at every day when I pull up my Notion app, because this is where my interaction with the data I need (for my businesses, for my life) and my interaction with my AIs all live.
If you're not an expert in Notion, that's fine. Those people exist, you don't need to be one, and I am not one. What we're going to do is set up a small system that holds your stuff, answers your questions, and lets Claude run for you. Out of a fraction of what's on this page, we're going to use a little bit, and it's going to change everything.
In the next couple of videos, we're going to go over this idea, this concept. It's one you're really going to want to get down if you're going to follow along with the rest of our videos. So don't start by going off and playing with Notion, trying to figure it out on your own. Let's work on this together.
We're going to click on Get Notion for Free. I'm going to sign up with Google. You could sign up with Microsoft or your email. I'll see you on the other side in the next video, after I create my Notion account.
